Gainesville Leopards Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-2 loss to South Hills on Thursday.
The Gainesville Leopards Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing South Hills, giving up 14 runs.
South Hills got on the board in the first inning. South Hills scored one run on a stolen base.
South Hills scored five runs in the fifth inning. South Hills’s big inning was driven by singles by G. Castillo and J. Castro, a walk by J. Cortina, and a double by A. Alejo.
Alejo earned the victory on the mound for South Hills. He lasted four innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out four and walking zero. Cortina threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Hunter Nichols took the loss for Gainesville Leopards Varsity. He allowed one hit and three runs over two innings, striking out two.
