Friday was a long day for Gainesville Leopards Varsity, falling to Celina 18-2.
Celina scored six runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Celina was led by Jake Ingle, Ty Marthiljohni, Ethan Elliot, Riley Briscoe, DJ Dell’Anno, and Mason Fuqua, all driving in runs in the frame.
Will Keaveney led the Celina to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He surrendered two runs on five hits over five innings, striking out six and walking zero.
Hunter Nichols took the loss for Gainesville Leopards Varsity. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing ten runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking zero.
Landon Prestage went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Gainesville Leopards Varsity in hits.
Celina had 12 hits in the game. Cade Medellin and Briscoe all collected multiple hits for Celina. Celina didn’t commit a single error in the field. Mitchell Ray had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
