In the last game of the season the J.V. Leopards of Gainesville weathered the cold night only to lose to Decatur Thursday night. Due to multiple injuries to the teams line and backfield on both sides of the ball, Gainesville struggled to score and keep Decatur from scoring. The game started with the Leopards getting the opening kick-off only to go 3 and out on the first drive. Decatur took 3 plays to go score the first TD of the game. After another Gainesville punt the Eagles of Decatur scored another TD in the first quarter. Gasinesville finally got on the board with a 42 yd TD run by Casen Evans led by the great blocking up front from the o-line. The point after was no good. Decatur scored two more times in the 2nd quarter making the score 26-6 at the half. Decatur scored twice in the second half, once in each quarter to cap their scoring for the night. Gainesville had some great opportunities to score points, but they were nullified by a turnover and missed assignments which led to punts. Gainesville JV ends the year 2-6. The record however does not reflect the hard-work put in this season. This group of youngsters will get better and be better next year.
